Britney, Paris, and the Billboard Music Awards

Not being much of a fan of current music, I didn't watch the
Billboard Music Awards last night, but I saw a crawl on one of
my local newscasts this morning that said that Britney Spears
and Paris Hilton, who were scheduled to host the show, were
no-shows.

If that's true, that is about the most unprofessional thing I've
ever seen in television, and if I were the producer of the show,
I would not pay them off (and if they wanted to go to court, fine).

What's the story? Is my indignation justified (even though I care
almost nothing for either of them, it's still a matter of honoring a
contract)?

They backed out a couple of days beforehand because Ms. Hilton didn't likle the jokes the producers wrote for her.

In speaking...at the beginning of the show, the sound went dead during Janet Jackson's performance...the word "SEX" on the screen in the background...

Another 2/1/2004 could have occured last night. I think Fox used the dump button.

Or an excuse for the soon to be ex-Mrs. Federline and Ms. Hilton to "have a headache" so to speak. ;D They are too busy to be party girls right now to be award show hosts. Or maybe it didn't feature anything interesting for them to do, nothing as controversial like when Madonna kissed Britney and Christina at the MTV Awards in 2003.

If you ask me, they should've gotten Carmen Electra (who attended the show as always) at the last minute to host.
