Not much action at the top of the Baltimore ratings, but some interesting developments in the middle and at the bottom:
The biggest development this year has been the loss of HFS, and in this book, it shows. 98 Rock had its best book in years, up above a 5 share now. The new HFS on 105.7 also had a nice jump. They're up about a point and a half from where they were in Fall '04. Expect music in more dayparts when Stern leaves in September.
The other big story was the loss of WQSR. Jack had an OK debut, dropping a little bit from when Oldies were on 102.7, but probably getting much better demos. Surprisingly, Mix 106.5 was up a little and Lite-FM seems to be the station hurt most by Jack's debut. The Oldies audience disappeared, evidently choosing to stay with 102.7 or turn to other forms of media. Neither WBIG nor WZBA saw an uptick. Of course, with only two months of Jack so far, it's too early to tell whether the new 102.7 will be a success or not.
