Trying to find a decent list of all of the AOR tracks that were playout on AOR radio from the 60's to the 90's. Anyone know where one can find a list like this?

Thanks

The Billboard chart books compiled by Joel Whitburn are great resources. You can find them new/used on Amazon including:

"Joel Whitburn's Rock Tracks : Mainstream Rock 1981-2002 * Modern Rock 1988-2002".

Hope that helps...

Of course, the Whitburn books are hampered by the fact that the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart didn't begin until March 21, 1981 and the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart didn't begin until September 10, 1988.

What is unfortunate is that there have never been reference books like Whitburn's for the R&R charts. That still wouldn't get the data all the way back to the early days of AOR (Progressive Rock, it was called then) but it would get a lot closer.

Realistically, if you wanted to know what the Progressive Rock stations were playing, the Billboard Album charts from 1967 on would give you a pretty good idea, provided you know what artists of the era were rock.<P ID="signature">______________

And why haven't the guys/gals over at Radio and Records ever compiled their charts in similar publications.... I typically found R&R a more reliable chart back in the 80s when I cared before I left radio in the early 90's only to return last year.
