Hard to see how the FCC would license a full power station less than 60 miles from the transmitter of a 100kw FM on an adjacent channel, but perhaps the FCC is no longer protecting Canadian signals on teh US side of the border?
The transmitter for CBE-FM Windsor on 89.9 is in McGregor, Ont. ( a few miles inland from Grosse Isle, Mich.) and puts its primary signal into Toledo. Bowling Green is less than 20 miles south, and has had an audience for the CBC Radio Two format for years. Since CBC dropped much of its classical music from the station, it will be hard to make an argument to protect its signal on the basis of protecting one of the few classical outlets on the dial. Yet there are more conservative religious stations on the air in Bowling Green than you can count on both hands. Just another reason terrestrial radio is becoming less and less relevant to more and more people, in my opinion, when signals keep encroaching on viable coverage areas of other stations.
