Andy Barber Retires From Mornings At KBEZ

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/198953/andy-barber-retires-from-mornings-at-kbez/

Andy Barber has retired from mornings at Griffin Communications Classic Hits “92.9 The Drive” KBEZ Tulsa ending a 50+ year radio career.

Barber has been a staple in Tulsa mornings since the early 1990s with stints at “106.9 K-Hits” KHTT, “92.1 Kiss-FM” KIZS, “Kool 106.1” KQLL, “Star 103.3” KJSR before joining KBEZ in 2013. The pre-Tulsa career for Barber dotted the country with stops in Wichita, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Seattle, Spokane, Los Angeles, Portland, Houston, Jacksonville, Salt Lake City, and Louisville.

When Andy came to KHTT “106.9 K-Hits” in '93, it was actually his second stint in Tulsa. He did mornings at the old KAYI “KAY-107” a few years earlier. I had heard he went to Nashville after his first stint in Tulsa, but I don’t know which station or how long he was there.

I remember meeting Andy in middle school for a career day q and a. He let us know how radio worked, about ratings and how often they played songs and a playlist. I’ve been a fan since, going to miss him on radio
