Anchor Told He’s ‘Disgrace to Arkansas’ Wins Regional Emmy

http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/anchor-told-hes-disgrace-to-arkansas-wins-regional-emmy/179172

Dang ya think we got over the anchors personal background already.

Mitch McCoy, the Little Rock reporter who was told to get off the air by a viewer because he was gay, has won an Emmy.

McCoy, one of a team of seven, won a Mid-American regional Emmy for Best Weekend Newscast for severe weather reporting on NBC and Fox affiliate KARK–KLRT.

In May a viewer sent an email to McCoy, who is gay, saying children should not be watching people like him. “Society is not ready for gay men reading news,” said the man.

“I’ve been holding back for months but I can’t stand your gayness,” said the viewer, who also told McCoy he was a “disgrace to Arkansas.”

Society seems to have no problem with gay men acting, singing, running businesses or holding elected office. Why is one covering a storm something society is not ready for?

C'mon. One crank anonymous email. How does that matter to a story about some local reporter getting a regional Emmy? How does it make this one award more important than all the other regional Emmy awards (and all the other awards) that pass without notice?

Social media continues to show and prove each and everyday how many ignoramuses are allowed to post messages/send emails, let alone own a computer.
