KVST back in Huntsville

I don't know if anyone cares but KVST seems to be back on their tower just south of Huntsville. They've been on their old tower in Willis for probably over a year.

It's hard to see the value in moving any radio signal away from the lucrative Spring-Woodlands area and boosting that same signal into farmland north of Huntsville.

Superserving all of Montgomery and Walker counties and their associated growth is probably a better idea than concentrating too much on the Spring-Woodlands area, which is more emotionally linked to the immediate Houston metro area and all its radio competition.

Wonder how long New Wavo will stay in the radio game before cashing out?

They were at a lower power in Willis that only really hurt their signal in Huntsville. South Conroe and The Woodlands signal is pretty much unchanged

The days of "cashing out" are long behind us. They're not going to get anything close to what they got for 103.7. Only religious broadcasters are paying well for licenses these days and I don't see them shelling out millions for a station that only covers Conroe.

KVST covers both Conroe and Huntsville with local strength. That section of I-45 will see a lot of growth in the next 20-30 years. And if the proposed I-14 gets built, Huntsville will be on a major east-west route as well as the Houston-DFW corridor.

One scenario: EMF buys KROI and flips it to K-Love. The 92.1 signal is deficient in Montgomery and Walker counties, so they buy KVST to fill in that area.

Sure the value of KVST has dropped, as have all radio stations. But owners age out and die, younger family members may have no interest in carrying on the business, etc. etc. You take what you can get when you can. Waiting might mean even less money down the road.

The license shows it back at the original site north of New Waverly...no license exists for the Willis tower. It does have a CP for an aux NW of New Waverly but thats it

On what basis do you think this? Remember tropo is kicking up this time of year which can affect perceived signal strengths.
Living in Willis close by their aux tower they were on for probably over a year. There’s a lot more bleed over for me and the signal on my SDR is stronger than it was in Huntsville.

I see the new CP for 6k Watts in Willis.

Decisions in radio are often made for emotional rather than economic reasons. Plus, Woodlands is essentially a bedroom community for Houston, and I'm not so sure if someone would want to listen to a station that becomes unlistenable the closer you move toward Downtown Houston, when there are so many local options available offering a solid, city-grade signal. The move could also be to resolve interference issues to KHGV-LP, or from Dabang 99.5.

KVST's signal has been pretty awful this week, think they are on an aux site or at lower power than usual. Signal is super staticky going south on 45 just past 336 South.

It has been pretty bad. I think they’re on the Huntsville tower at reduced power. I’m pretty sure they had been on the Willis tower for awhile again.

Perhaps a reshuffling of the engineering staff is in order. This clearly sounds like an engineering matter.

Was also really crappy at my house near Willis last night. Lot better this morning. Seems like they're back to normal power.

I love Reading all this junk about KVST broadcasting on the wrong tower and for about a year now. If any of you are that interested in seeing where we are broadcasting from anytime just call me and I will let you in the Huntsville Tower or Willis tower anytime. The reason the signal was so bad the other night for two days is a translator next door was splattering all over the radio station almost to the front door of the Huntsville transmitter site. I am sure it is not that hard for yall to figure out who this is. . If you are having a problem hearing the station please go to the FCC web site and file a complaint. They are for sure not listening to me about the interference. I have been raising hell about it for over a year. And yes KVST has a licenses to broadcast from either tower location and is in the process of building the bigger Aux 6kw at Wills by the end of November. Want to come and visit just let me know. Have a good one Dade Moore. Need to contact me fill free to anytime [email protected]

So there!

Good morning Chuck, I drove the signal last night again up and down I 45 and Hy 59. for KVST inside there city coverage. I will be on the phone with the Owners attorney this morning. The interference to KVST even inside there city grade cover is really bad. I have video sitting in the studio parking lot with KVST getting splattered on and at some point you and not even pick up kvst 7 miles from there transmitter. people need to go online and file complaints right there. https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us
