CBS Leader Les Moonves accused of Misconduct

Before Julie Chen was a TV game show host she was allegedly an investigative journalist. I guess those investigative skills atrophied with marriage and passage of time. It will be interesting to see how the chicks on The View hNdle this on Monday. In the past they have skewered accused sex harassers with far less evidence.

I'm betting they give old Les a pass, what say you?

But wait there's a court date for
October 3rd between Moonves and Redstone.

The Redstone's will not give a pass to Moonves they want him out of the way because they believe that Les was interfering with the investments of National Amusement s and CBS. The Redstone's accuse Les of interference in the Viacom deal. Why do you think Moonves will get a Pass when there's a lawsuit at play here. Note at the time of post harassment by Faber and Moonves was not at play yet.

But by October 3rd probably that will be mentioned in the lawsuit. Also Les retaliated at Redstone over the interference between the CBS/Lionsgate talks. But Chen on the other hand needs to be on leave though given the way things are going.

No, she's never been any kind of journalist. She's been an anchor and a producer, both of which are firmly on the show-biz side of television news. CBS had a journalist named JOIE Chen for a while some years back -- no relation to Julie -- who covered the White House for them. She'd been at CNN before and bolted CBS for the ill-fated Al Jazeera English cable channel. That move apparently was a career killer, as she hasn't been seen on US TV since, and I can find no career info for her after that disaster.

actually, it was Al Jazeera America that was the failed network, Al Jazeera English is the English language international network.

I was initially a bit skeptical of this, thinking it may have been a hatchet job by Viacom because of Moonves' resistance to merging the companies, but it appears Farrow has done his research and the allegations from Ms. Douglas are well supported. I don't think the CBS Board has much choice but to ask him to retire considering the current environment. He was not a youngster out of college in the mid 90s, but a senior executive.

hmmmm…….so CBS announces that they are pulling the plug on the Decades channel to replace
it with one that will show "dramas featuring strong women", just days before Ronan Farrow
breaks this story about Moonves?

Coincidence??

This could get sticky for CBS. Let’s say Moonves is fired. What happens to Chen’s vehicles on the network. The Talk is making the network money as is Big Brother. Would she quit the network or try to save face. Plus with Les out she loses her leverage.

I have to really wonder about these allegations. It doesn't make sense.
A person in his position probably has little contact with women other than his wife and his executive secretary. He has been married over 20 years and executive secretaries usually keep that job 20 years plus.
Most of his business contacts are men, the president of ABC, NBC, and other high level executives.
How did he come in contact with these accusers? Maybe these are women just trying to ca$h in on the current craze. We know that some women can be patholigical liars:

Can't help but think about the woman who once lived with me saying "she was going to eff me up real good."
Finally got rid of her and, last I heard, she was living at a homeless shelter.

If you read the OP, most of the accusations came about over 20 years ago, before he got to CBS, before he was married, when he was running a Hollywood studio. It was a similar situation to Harvey Weinstein, where he's involved in casting.

When assessing that I have learned to use what I call The Cosby Rule.

One woman can certainly cook-up a false allegation against anyone.
I could see two or three getting together and doing it to extort money from a wealthy individual.

When that magazine cover hit with 100 women all essentially telling the same story about Cosby,
I knew he was guilty. There is no way that many women got together to compare notes on a false allegation.

Apparently in Moonves' case the number of women making the claim is less than 100 but more than 3.

When a parole board makes a decision about releasing an accused prisoner, the question they ask is "Have you rehabilitated yourself?"

Had the early accusers spoken up when the incidents happened, and Moonves had been found guilty and put in jail, his sentence would be done by now. Have there been other more recent incidents, or has the accused rehabilitated himself? That's the question that needs to be asked.

The parole board also takes into account the seriousness of the offense committted and the dangerthe convict might pose to the public.

Julie Chen "sang" the old Tammy Wynette hit song Stand By Your Man" this morning on The View. One wonders how long she will continue to sing that tune if or when it comes to lght that her husband was chasing skirts AFTER they were married. One also wonders if she is aware of Tammy Wynette other hit song "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment...-misconduct-allegations-190936162.html?bcmt=1
Actually, it was The Talk, unless she guested on The View and I missed it.

Can't help but think that if this was anyone else, they would have talked about it for upwards of 15 minutes. As it is, her statement reeks of a cheap plug for her Twitter account. But because you posted the above link, I no longer need to follow her on Twitter to see what she posted. (Not that I was going to, anyway.)
