XM makes deal with Audible

-- XM and Audible to co-launch a device that receives all XM channels and plays Audible's content (downloadable audio books, newspapers, and printed material)

-- Later this year, Audible users will be able to download podcast versions of Bob Edwards and Opie and Anthony.

-- XM will make Audible's spoken word programming available through a co-branded online store to XM users

-- New devices will have AudibleReady/XM brand name

Not in the article: Audible is dropping NPR content to get XM content. Also, since all of Audible's content is MP3, woudn't this mean that this would create a combination Sat radio/MP3 player?
______________

While we all know my poor opinion of opie and anthony, I would simply looooove to see their actual audience information from XM. The last few months has been nothing but opie and anthony this....opie and anthony that. Do people really care about them or is it just marketing fluff?
______________

Probably a little of both.

The only way to get the word out is, well, get the word out.

One thing I just learned... Audible doesn't use MP3 for download - it's its own format, although many MP3 players do support Audible.

It wouldn't take much for a MP3 capable MyFi. Something is bound to happen before Christmas.

Also, Audible's content is downloadable from iTunes. Does this mean you'd be able to get Bob Edwards and O&A on an iPod?
______________
