It appears Bonneville's KZBR is struggling mightily doing the same Variety Hits type of approach they're doing successfully in St. Louis and Phoenix- even their Chicago station The Drive is strong 25-54.

Any theories why the Bay area version is looking like such a dog?

Thanks!!!

That station (95.7FM) was pulling a 2 share or better as The Bear (Country) before Bonneville pulled the plug. Locals have told me that the station has never done well in any format.

S.F.

Is it a good enough signal? Do we know if they've marketed it at all?

Re: S.F.

Not sure. It's a class B with a stick in Daly City. According to radio-locator.com it puts out a decent city grade signal down to Sunnyvale and up to Vallejo. The eastern towns like Livermore look like a problem.

KZBR was blown up as a quick roadblock to Infinity doing JACK and protects the cluster's cash-cow KOIT so I'm not sure how well it NEEDS to do, if you know what I mean.

CHR, classic hits, country, now variety hits...and all were in this decade! Must be one of those cursed frequencies.

Nothing there to say that a good song is coming up. Play a short clip of songs coming up. Go to the phones with requests. Try saying "Your music" instad of "Our music"

Is this a cross-post? What are you talking about?

And the Drive is classic hits, not variety hits. Bonneville's WTMX has been actively targeting Jack in Chicago with the "Today's New Music and Whatever We Want" positioner and doing rather well at it.
