Toni Parker passes away

Condolences to family and friends of longtime South Florida personality Toni Parker who passed away Tuesday evening (1/10) in Spring Hill, Tenn., following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 57.

Toni began her career in 1981 at RKO's WAXY FM (now WBGG), working her way from the call-out research center into weekends, then late-nights and morning-show contributor. In 1993 she joined 101.5 LITE FM (WLYF) for similar duties and at one point also handled morning-drive traffic reporting for WPLG-TV.

In 1999 Toni left LITE FM for an opportunity with Chancellor's StarSystem national voicetracking operation, and ultimately worked in suburban New York at WFAS/Westchester before relocating to the Nashville area.

Toni's survived by her adult daughter and son -- and fondly remembered by her WAXY and WLYF colleagues for her positive outlook and indomitable spirit. A private celebration of her life is planned for later this month in Tennessee ... followed by a similar gathering of her radio family in South Florida. More information is available from Ellen Jaffe at LITE FM: <a href=mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]</a>.
