Street Corner Sunday Is Cancelled in Philadelphia

A passing of time worth noting: January 14, 2017 was the last airing of Harvey Holiday's 'Street Corner Sunday' on WOGL in Philadelphia. The show started on WOGL (then Oldies 98) on July 2, 1989 as 5 hours of all doo-wop music hosted live by Harvey Holiday, who had done a similar r&b/doo-wop oldies show on WDAS-FM from 1971-1985, then he was on several stations until 1989. In 2001 the show was taken off the air but was brought back shortly after 9-11-01. It was reduced to 3 hours 9-midnight pre-recorded & gradually added early rock & roll & r&b as the station moved to 70's-90's 'classic hits'. It was promoted as 'the last show on a major market commercial station playing this kind of music'. On Friday January 19th Harvey Holiday posted a Facebook notice that he had signed a new contract to continue doing middays on WOGL as he has for many years, but they had 'pulled the plug' on Street Corner Sunday, and there would be no last show. As far as I know nothing was said on the air as jockless '80's music took it's place.

So is this true that there are no more major market stations anywhere playing any 1950's doo-wop-rock & roll-r&b at any time? Certainly the end of a long era starting in the 1950's. In the Philadelphia area there are some fringe-market stations & small AM or non-commercial stations still playing some 50's oldies & several internet only stations dedicated to Philadelphia-favorite oldies but this is it for FM commercial radio.
