Strange Sounds from 96.7FM in Portland, OR

Weird noises on a KXRY-offshoot? Huh. That's never happened before.

Likely just filling out time since they couldn't have been bothered to make some more sensible filler programming. It was KXRY. That latter point isn't in their mission statement. Stunting would need a little bit of creativity. Apparently this has been going on since 2006, and I kind of remember reading about KXRY itself running this same stuff early on. It doesn't take much time, effort and thought to pull some old broadcast master reels out of a closet and play them on the air.

The station filed for its license to cover on September 20, 2017, having gone on air under the call sign KZRY-LP. Behind the founding of the station were two graduates of Grant High School,[2] one of which was a founder of KXRY "XRAY.FM". In its initial months on air as KZRY-LP, it aired a loop featuring audio of speeches by Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy and from the Apollo 11 mission, some music, and programs from XRAY.
