RIP Proud FM 103.9

Updates have been posted today at both RadioInsight and Canadian trade site Broadcast Dialogue.

Their statement reads like a bunch of word salad, but it seems Evanov is moving some of its Proud FM staff and programming over to Z-103.5 CIDC-FM, its Toronto rimshot signal from Orangeville, and planning to target Proud-FM's LGBTQ+ audience from there.

Z103.5 has been a Rhythmic CHR station for many years but wasn't specifically targeting LGBTQ+ community, so it sounds like that's about to change.

Evanov has had several fights with the CRTC and Toronto's big broadcasters opposing their their efforts to effectively move into the city over the years. The CRTC told Evanov CIDC has to be an Orangeville station (population 29,000). Seems like this could end up being the next chapter in those feuds. It will be interesting to see how they position and brand the 'integration' of Z103.5 and Proud FM.
