Interesting to see that KVOA aired Another World at 11:00 AM (I'm assuming that was because of Golf??). Also WHY did KOLD 13 join CBS This Morning IN PROGRESS at 7:00 AM?? That makes no sense

During the This Morning’s final couple of years CBS allowed stations to for local stations to air a mix of either local news and This Morning segments in that first hour or allowed the first hour to be preempted entirely. One example is KRQE in Albuquerque did this as well as they had historically ran This Morning from 6:00am-8:00am to begin with, but as they expanded to have a morning newscast they bumped most of the first hour of This Morning as well.

For stations doing the hybrid format in the first hour TV Guide would list it as “This Morning/News”. Oddly, during this time period in 1997-early 1999 This Morning actually rose to the #2 slot as GMA suffered heavy ratings losses during the dreadful Newman/McRee era.

Once The Early Show premiered in the fall of 1999 CBS mandated the stations carried both hours of program and the hybrid format ceased. One CBS affiliate, I think it either Oklahoma City or Tulsa had such a success with doing local news in the 7-8 hour they just simply ran the Early Show from 8AM-10AM instead.

I think he might have meant why did they join it in progress at 7 rather than 8, although he did put in progress in all caps. Most stations air the network morning shows from 7-9 regardless of time zone but this allowed an extra hour of syndication in the daytime.

Some NBC stations aired some or all of the soaps in the morning, soaps or no soaps.

When KCNC 4 was an NBC O&O (And even when it was owned by General Electric before that) WAY back in the day, they ran Days Of Our Lives at 11:00 AM (This was fairly normal thing for NBC affiliates to do back then)

KCNC (Then KOA-TV) DROPPED the Doctors ALTOGETHER sometime back in the 1970s (Though I have no idea as to what year this happened as I was just a kid back then)

Meanwhile, KOAA 5 ran Texas at 9:00 AM in the 1980s (I'm assuming on a one day delay) & ran the Doctors at 10:00 AM. Both they & KCNC later added Search For Tomorrow at 10:30 AM when NBC started carrying it however KCNC later dropped it (Although I was just a Teenager in High School at the time, I even wrote to KCNC suggesting they add it in at 3:00 PM however this was to no avail as they said the research they conducted didn't support it)
