Question about O&A

I heard a bit of O&A last night (as I am on the other side of the world) on 92.5 FREE FM. They were heading into a break by introducing a comedy track by some guy, when they said to there board-op that there was an obsenity in the track they werer about to play, and have the mute button ready. This makes me wonder.....1, Do they have production staff (who you think would clean it up)?2, How planned is the show? It just struck me as a little odd.

they mostly likley have a production crew (most national shows do) but remember: it's also on XM so there it can run unedited so maybe there's 2 feeds going out 1) the unedited XM version and 2) the XM version, but with a delay/someone listening to make sure nothing R rated slips by

Yes they do have a production staff, and yes I believe there are 2 feeds. Remember the first 3 hours...or the hours you hear on FREE-FM are broadcasted from CBS, they hit the dump button there CBS gets dumped...XM doesn't.

There are two feeds, basically. The advantage of having XM is that you get the show pre-dump, so if one of the b-b-b-boys exercises his "pottymouth" it can be dumped out of the Free FM feed, whereas the XM listeners get to hear all of the saucy glory. (Tell 'em, Fred)

Per the preparation, if you listen long enough, you'll find out that they pride themselves on not being prepared.
