(Poster Wants) 93.1 Amor to bring Latin Christmas music from the 90's-today with little 80's played on Nov.-Dec. 2023

Since January 2023, 93.1 Amor brings back the Spanish library musical of all time from the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s to today with few 1980s played on the radio and starting November until December 2023, let's bring Latin Christmas from the 90s-today with little 80s of traditional music like:

Luis Miguel - Mi Humilde Oración
Juan Gabriel - 24 de Diciembre
Gloria Estefan - Abriendo Puertas
Ricky Martin - Ay, Ay, Ay It's Christmas
Marco Antonio Solís - Linda Noche Buena
Los Bukis - Navidad Sin Ti
José Feliciano - Feliz Navidad

and more...

And Gloria B, Jenny Cruz, Oscar Ramírez and the whole gang, it's Christmas party time for Nov.-Dec. of 2023. Oh Yeah!

It's very unlikely they'll do Spanish Christmas music. The only reason SBS did it on WRXD last year is because they were getting ready to revert it to "Estereo Tempo", and even then did they have to play a couple English language Christmas songs.

93.1 Amor is unlikely to do that. Usually, WLTW is the only full market station for Christmas music. Star 99.1 has a weaker signal but does a better mix than WLTW. Basically, they are the only two Christmas stations that work in the market other than WALK FM on 97.5.

And even today in Puerto Rico, stations do not flip to 24/7 Christmas. They do play a lot of Christmas music, because it is the only place in Latin America where they have enough traditional Christmas tunes to fill out the playlist. Recuerdo tried a Christmas flip and it was a disaster.

Esterotempo (one word ever since the 1980's) did Christmas music as an attention getter because, unlike the rest of Latin America, Puerto Rico has enough local "jíbaro" ("hillbilly") Christmas music based on a purely Boricua tradition that does not "play" off the island.

The music is more about partying ("asaltos") and family gatherings than Christmas, and much is based on the cooler weather and food-and-drink customs of December. A typical lyric is "If you don't give me a drink, I'll cry".

In fact, Recuerdo (only in LA) lost 2/3 of its audience with that trial of all-Christmas. In Puerto Rico, there is just not enough of that music to sustain a whole month of it. And most of us considered that playing it in all dayparts was excessive as most is party and drinking music and not quite what you want to hear in morning drive.

Tavín Pumarejo y Su Tuna Fish is not what I want to hear at 7 AM.

Wow! The title of this thread is misleading! It should be something like the following.

"I wish that 93.1 Amor would go all Latin Christmas on Nov.-Dec. 2023"
And that won't happen because the bulk of Christmas music from, let's say, Puerto Rico, is not liked or appreciated or even understood in the Dominican Republic... and so on from region to region.

Well, in that case, we can expect a pretty early all Christmas flip to happen in Puerto Rico again this year (WRXD flipped around the 4th of November or before last year).

I looked at the breakout for that period, and it was terrible. As a stunt for a format flip, it was perhaps a good idea (nobody talks about radio much any more en la Isla) but it's not a good concept for an existing format.
