New WFLA news music?

Listening to the top of the hour update this afternoon and I noticed that
the music package was slightly tweaked. Most notably, they've replaced the
ABC News sounder with the one for Fox News. Wondering if FLA is switching
from ABC to Fox, since I also noticed that there was no Paul Harvey at 11:30.

I know for a fact Paul Harvey moved to 1040.

Yes WFLA dropped ABC for FOX. In turn, 1040 picks up ABC and Paul Harvey. In WFLA's defense, I don't think they really WANTED to drop ABC but it was a Clear Channel deal with multiple CC talk stations involved (if not all, I don't remember).

By the way, did anyone ever mention here that former WDAE Program Director (and WFLA/WFLZ Production Director before that) Brad James is now the VP/Programming for 1040 and the rest of Genesis Florida properties???<P ID="signature">______________

Is he really? I wonder who's running the ship at the Animal now?

Re: New WFLA news music?...and more

Interesting that 1040 got ABC back since WFLA threw a fit when Larsen started over there and ABC dumped 1040 as they both had ABC. Does 1040 still have Fox at the bottom of the hour?

Wonder if CC will acquire any of Fox's talk shows like O'reilly or Tony Snow? I think someone else syndicates Hannity who IMHO is burning out like Rush.

Re: New WFLA news music?...and more

o'reilly is syndicated by viacom (westwood one).

What do you mean CC won't touch it? Hannity is on many Clear Channel stations.

Re: New WFLA news music?...and more

I heard O'reilly say that Fox had bought the program a couple months ago. I know he still does or originated at WOR in NY. Hannity is on WSRQ a CC station in Sarasota. They took him away from WLSS a couple years ago. In fact, Hannity did his show from there a couple months ago, when he was here showing his ignorance during the Schiavo fiasco. I'm really surprised that Michael Schiavo hasnt sued him yet. He was in Sarasota schilling for Katherine Harris.

1040 does have Fox News at the bottom of the hour. Don't know if it will
change come Thursday (when Paul Harvey will start airing on 1040).

Re: New WFLA news music?...and more

Hannity's #1 in the market on CC 55KRC/Cincinnati in the afternoons....

>>>What do you mean CC won't touch it? Hannity is on many Clear Channel stations. <<<

yeah, well, how long has he been on 1040 locally and how often has clear channel tampa had a chance to pipe in his show and passed?

at least on the am locally, the big clear channel stations (970 and 620) only carry clear channel content. remember, fox sports radio is owned by premier radio networks (which also carries rome). premier is owned by clear channel.

I wonder what 1040's gonna do soon, because Harvey is well into his 80s and will either retire or be carried out of the studio in a coffin almost anytime. His time passed 20 years ago.

970 WFLA has simply turned into Radio Right Wing.

"What do you mean CC won't touch it? Hannity is on many Clear Channel stations."

For a time, Hannity was banned by Randy Michaels becuase after promising to always be available to fill in for Rush, Hannity signed a deal with ABC Radio Net.

"fox sports radio is owned by premier radio networks "

FSR is owned by Fox. Premiere is the distributor. Premiere is also distributing the new Fox News Radio.

And somebody before asked about O'Reilly's radio program: It was a WW1 show and don't know if Fox bought it.... but it had been originating from a studio at the Fox News Channel and piped over to WW1 Tech Ops at the CBS Broadcast Center who put it up on the bird. WOR is the NYC affiliate.
