Re: Sun And Fun Capital

I heard that Jackie Gleason lifted the slogan from WFUN and changed it slightly.

Original: WFUN in the FUN and sun capital.

Gleason: "From the sun and fun capital of the world Miami Beach; we bring you The Jackie Gleason Show. (announced by Johnny Olsen).

> 'FROM THE FUN AND SUN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD...(wzta) MIAMI
> BEACH! THIS IS 94.9....ZETA---4!" This was duirng their

No... The question was about the first FM, David.

I had previously on this thread posted the URL
of WLYF's history, where it says "101.5 LITE FM
has a long and distinguished history in South
Florida radio, originally signing on the
air in 1948 as WWPB-FM. For more than 20 years
the station was owned and operated by Paul Brake,
who served as the station's manager and program
director." From http://www.wlyf.com/HistoryofLITEFM.asp !

WBUS final day

I requested Mangione's "Land of Make Believe" that
day and they told me there were more requests for
that than anything else.

Was that the last song? I forget.

But WWPB is an AM call. WWPB-FM came in 1949 (licensed before,a nd Westinghouse transmitter purchased, but airdate some time in 1949.)

I would take Broadcasting and FCC data over a station´s own website.

It's a shame that you didn't figure out I was
talking about WWPB-FM ... by context ... or
even by looking at the web site. Sorry you
didn't parse that successfully. Mea culpa.

Good for you, Dave. I had no reason to believe
that WLYF was trying to deceive me. Or reason
to try to disprove their site. Nor motivation
to go further.

Re: WBUS final day

I would have to play the recording to hear it.

Well, if you ever do... I'm curious.

WFLX FOX 29 comes in fine On the Air in Dade!

At least at my "Penthouse" apartment?. In fact I view it better than Two, or NBC 58. Come on by one day, we can do the Steak 'N' Shake?. (Now that sounds obscene!)
