As of 2:30am, 99.5 KWEI-FM is stunting with a loop of Ritchie Valens "La Bamba" and a as yet untranslated message in Spanish. Here's audio of what is being looped..

As of 5pm, KWEI is currently running with no image, just Elvis tunes wall-to-wall and a canned voice legal ID at the Top of the Hour..

I believe the station is going to be headed up by old KLTB-FM PD "Big" Jack Armstrong..'Boomer' Oldies with music from 57'-69'...

My Spanish is marginal at best, but I clearly hear "a new station, 1450 AM, La Raza" at the end. Is this what KWEI was simulcasting as a Spanish station or a new Spanish format coming to its AM sister station that will be simulcast on the FM side? I'd be shocked to see an FM anywhere flipping to a format whose key demographic is on that Madison Avenue is convinced that it can't sell anything to, 55+.

KWEI (AM) 1260 stunting with a couple classic country/pop songs.
But wait, there's more!
Call letters have changed to KTRP.
Plus!
KIOV 1450 web site says "The Dennis Miller show will return Monday February 28th Live on 1260 A.M. KTRP".

It's basically saying, "If you're looking for La Indomable, you can find us on a new station, 1450 AM La Raza."

On 3/15 at 1pm, 99.5 KKOO-FM stopped stunting with the all Elvis format and became "Kool Oldies 99.5" with music and automation service from Dial Global's Oldies Plus format. No local talent has been heard on the air but rumor has it that Boise radio veteran 'Big' Jack Armstrong is doing Morning Drive starting on Monday the 21st..
