KCOP News

Maybe they should experiment with putting Good Day LA on weekends on KCOP at 7am. The station airs infomercials mainly or religious programming. Maybe the news could get better ratings than those other programs.

For Goid Day LA +, it's simulcast on both kttv and kcop weekdays.

If they're airing infomercials or religious programming, they're being paid for the airtime. They've likely done the math and found it's more money than they would make with the best ratings you're likely to get at 7:00 a.m. on a weekend morning.

Beyond that, unless you're talking about a re-run of segments from earlier in the week, there's the cost of producing an hour (or more) of a live newscast. There are near-zero costs in running paid religious programming or infomercials.

KTVU, KCPQ, KUTP and KPTV did use their duopolies as backups for their weekend morning news just to clear FOX News Sunday and certain FOX Sports programs like FOX NFL Kickoff and Big Noon Kickoff depending on the schedule.

So it's more like another KTLA.

KCOP now airs weekday news from KTTV in the form of simulcasts of GDLA+ at 11:00am and Good Nite L.A. at 11:00pm (which both originated for KCOP before expanding it as a simulcast to KTTV as well), and also KTTV's 5:00pm news.

That now leaves WNYW and WFLD not having a late news.since many Fox stations in mid-large markets are now going beyond the primetime news slot.

I do not consider a simulcast of KTTV to be "KCOP News". Fox is more likely doing it to avoid having to program channel 13 separately in those hours, when even an infomercial would gain far fewer viewers.

I do want to put Karamo and Steve Wilkos cleared again by having Fox to buy the rights in some markets including LA.

No agreed. Its FOX 11 News on FOX 11 Plus though its all simulcasts.

Of course, it can also be said that rebranding KCOP as "Fox 11 Plus" very much erases the identity of channel 13 as a separate entity.

"KCAL News on CBS2" is one thing ... completely submerging the channel # on KCOP is several steps further.

Its CBS Los Angeles on the linear Channel 2 and CBS News Los Angeles on the streaming feed.

Hmmm. Last time I watched the news OTA on KCBS there was a "KCAL News" logo in the lower corner of the screen ...

And I just doublechecked what I thought I remembered seeing ... in my TiVo guide all of the KCBS newscasts are listed as "KCAL News on CBS2", as I had alluded to in post #15.

Well, it should say KCAL News on CBS Los Angeles. KCBS doesn't go by CBS 2 anymore, unlike its NYC counterpart and flagship (at times, especially during their news).
