Jock Suggestions for 97.1 The River

I know a recent post on this board suggested that when 97.1 The River starts using jocks that it will be voicetracked. If that's true, that's too bad. I'd like to hear them use live local talent. Not that Cox management necessarily cares what we think, but does anyone have any suggestions for Atlanta on-air talent they'd like to hear on The River? My first vote would go for Kaedy Kiely. Not only is she Hot!, but she has a great delivery and a lot of knowledge about classic rock. Another one would be Bob Bailey. You guys remember him from his time at both the Rock & Z93? Talk about an encyclopedia of rock and roll knowledge! I always enjoyed him. Plus, I don't think they could ever drag him out of his sales job at QXI, but I'd love to hear Jim Morrison back on the air regularly again - smooth as silk.

Gary McKee? No way, his time is past. Craig Ashwood? Making too much money doing Outback commercials. J. J. Jackson? Maybe.

And whatever happened to Dale O'Brien?

First thing if you want to hear Bob Bailey you can tune into Sunny 100.1 in Canton, if you live north of Atlanta, and you can hear him therefrom 3pm to 7pm. Second, he would not be a very good person to be on 971 The River because his voice is very dull and boring to listen to and therer is no energy in him when he talks on the air. They need someone more exciting than Bob cause he is very old school. Third hopefully you have heard by now that J. J. Jackson is not in Atlanta anymore, he got a new job working for a Clear Channel radio station that is doing well in Louisville, Ky, it is called 100.5 the Louie. So scratch J. J. out for being on the River because he likes his new station. I would know because I talk to him and I don't think he will be in this area too often. He did say that his wife is in town every now and then because they are still trying to sell their house here in Atlanta. So J. J. Jackson can't come to The River. Lastly, I think mayber Chris Morgan from Cool 105.7 should come to the River over Bob Bailey, because Chris has a great energy in his voice and isn't bouring to listen to.

Yes. Let's recycle the same tired names that haven't had listeners in 15 years.

> I agree some fresh EXPERIENCED TALENT not just a bunch of kids out of school that get paid chump wages, but rather some seasoned professionals from around the region Columbia,S.C. Greenville,S.C. Knoxville,T.N. or Ashville,N.C.. We've all heard great jocks in those areas that would do wonders here! Only a thought...

I vote for Mara Davis if they can get here away from Davefm, Bob Bailey,

Kaedy Kiely, Charles Henry and Art Mehring on News or sports

It would be nice to hear Keady again. Beth Kepple and the Rude One would be nice. And how 'bout JohnBoy?

I've kept up w/ this site for over a year, but when someone puts down my role-model ...well, I can't sit by and shrug this one off. I listened consistantly to Z93 many years past and enjoyed (related to) Bob Bailey's delivery on the afternoon drive. In my 11 years behind the microphone, I found that I probably had many similar NATURAL traits and habits as Bob. (much to my satisfaction, actually) I've had feed-back while working the afternoon drive that said this delivery and style was the cure for road rage! Anyway, I think more people than you think are ready for a return to some styles of the past..Bob's included! (it sure has been profitable for me)
And besides...some of us are ready to kick back just a bit on the ride home and don't want the DJ's that , energetically, put their mouths in gear before engaging the brain.
What about Bob?
Let's face it, we all have examples of persons in this industry that we admire and aspire to be like in the pursuit of this career...
... and to refer to Bob's style as "old school" ?.... I've heard the crap over the Atlanta airwaves. I'll take the old school style of broadcasting over the "energy-filled" new school approach anyday!
As Jumpin' Jack Reynolds (my mentor) would say... "Bob, I tip my headphones to ya!"
BTW...the River would do well to hire this duo .....)

And....how could I forget an Atlanta favorite.....how 'bout Willard? You have to admit, the old 96 Rock team was killer! 96 Rock was one helluva radio station from 70's to the late 90's.
Guess it will not interest Cox.....we are all almost out of the 25-54 demo.
