Jimmy Carter Reveals That He Has Cancer...Now Cancer-Free

Former President Jimmy Carter announced on Wednesday that he has cancer, NBC reported.

The 39th president said that the cancer was discovered during recent liver surgery and that it was "now in other parts of my body." He also said that he would rearrange his schedule to receive treatment.

Carter, 90, underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a small mass in his liver.

"His operation proceeded without issues, and the prognosis is excellent for a full recovery," the Carter Center said in a statement after the surgery.

I wish him well. At 90, however, the prospects for a fully recovery cannot be good. He's lived an accomplished life and if recovery is in the cards, I pray he makes one.

Although no specific form of cancer was released it is widely known that Jimmie's father and siblings all died from pancreatic cancer - one of the most lethal varieties. Jimmie said, in a news story yesterday, that he always suspected it was in his future and credited his long life to date because he was the only one in his family that never smoked.

I too, wish him well. Regardless of what you think of him as a president he is a good human being and has done a lot of good for others in his life.

Former President Jimmy Carter says cancer has spread to brain

Former President Jimmy Carter said on Thursday that he has melanoma that has spread to his brain.

Carter, 90, said that he will receive the first of four radiation treatments for the disease on Thursday. The treatments will be spread out over three week intervals.

Carter said that he will drastically cut back his work at the Carter Center while he receives treatment.

Former President Jimmy Carter Says His Brain Cancer Is Gone

Former President Jimmy Carter said Sunday that medical tests show his brain cancer is gone.

Carter, 91, made the announcement in front of a Sunday School class that he was teaching at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.

“He said he got a scan this week and the cancer was gone,” churchgoer Jill Stuckey told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “The church, everybody here, just erupted in applause.”
