If so many people listened to Liquid Metal as claimed though, how come they dropped the channel?

Domo Arigato! This new stream will be every bit as successful as C-Wave and Radio Taj were! Do we all remember those two victims of the first channel adjustment, I think they were on channels like 105 & 106, approximately.

It's entirely possible that this will only show up on the online service, like Special X, XMLM, On the Rocks, The Eye, and whatever they call the Southern Gospel channel.<P ID="signature">______________

The Southern Gospel channel is called The Light, IIRC.

FWIW, maybe the new J-Pop channel will not be an XM-only service. It would make a lot of sense for it to be in partnership with WorldSpace. That might distribute the costs a little more and make it economically viable.
