January 2012 Arbitrons Review

Well, the Christmas music has ceased, and the radio ratings of KSFI and KOSY have dropped back to near norms. The top ten stations in January 2012, based on AQH (Average Quarter Hour) listening in the 6+ age category are:

KSFI down 8 share points from Christmas music month, but still #1
KSL AM/FM actually up 1.2 share points for a solid #2
KJMY Best book for this station so far, in #3 position
KZHT Tied with KJMY, so HOT AC and CHR/Pop rule the roost
KUBL A nice rebound from Christmas month, up from December by .4 share
KODJ Down slightly from December, good for 6th place
KXRK Up from December a half share, good for 7th.
KBZN Best rating for this station since September, in 8th.
KNRS AM/FM Climbed back to ninth place, up .3 share points from December.
KRSP Up slightly from December, same as holiday rating month, for tenth place.
KUDD Tied for tenth place, more TOP 40 modern

Seems top 40/CHR/HOT AC is continuing its HOT streak in Utah. 4 of the top 10 stations play this genre of music.

Showing some improvement month to month in the lower tiered stations:
KBEE moving into 12th place

Falling back to earth:
KOSY from 2nd during Holiday rating month to 14th place, a drop of 4.2 share points

Top ten stations, cume wise (listeners who spend at least fifteen minutes listening to the station during the week) are:
KSFI, KZHT, KJMY, KBZN, KUDD, KSL AM/FM, KBEE, KRSP, KODJ, KUBL

February ratings out in mid-March; that will be the next report. You can view the full ratings on this site.
