In today's trend, Jack is number 6 25-54, and number 2 25-54 English station. The first 4 25-54 stations are in Spanish.

12+ is Kiss, KSCA, Power, K-love, K-Buena, KFI, KTWV, KLAX, KROQ, KOST, The Beat, Hot, Jack, K-Earth, Recuerdo.

Wow,

Does that mean Jack is giving KROQ a beating?

KROQ may or may not be off; in May alone (extrap) Jack is #2 overall in LA 25-54. KROQ is at the low end of its range, about where it was in the discreet months of August and December of last year.

very nice

Actually they jumped to #5 in 25-54 adults!

Careful, David- any success shown will be immediately shot down because of this & that & the other thing . The "fluke-monsters" will be out in full force.

Of course, any of us with common sense know it'll take a number of full books to even get a clear idea on most of these stations. But, for KCBS-FM, the first 2 months are fabulous, indeed.

In order, KSCA, K-Buena trombo, KLVE, KLAX, Kiss combo, Jack.

#2 in May extrap, #1 English station.

They trended solidly in each of the three months. It looks pretty real to me.

There may be som binge listening, but it is certainly looking viable. And definitely a vast improvement over Arrow; the NY folks should know what to expect now.

A few trends does not spell long-term success. Sure
this is a great format to bring in cume and convert
sampkers into P-1's. But in 2 years, the format will
be toast.

I knew this would happen

Please read this AGAIN from my post a few steps up:

"Of course, any of us with common sense know it'll take a number of full books to even get a clear idea on most of these stations".

Where did you see me write anything about "long term success"? You don't know if JACK will be toast in 2 years any more than I do.

I think it's hysterical how some of you who are racing to this thread to praise JACK FM's latest trend (and warn us all to "Beware" of JACK FM) are the SAME people who WEREN'T predicting its success after the format flip in March! HA! Too funny!!! You people should become consultants. Oh wait, some of you already ARE! lol
Edited by TurnItOn on 06/21/05 10:29 PM.

I actually and immediately put it on a car button as my only English music choice.

I will say the same thing I have said since the flip.

There is no way to tell what the true viability of this will be until after the first two or three books. I did say at least once that I expected there to be some kind of upward spike due to listener sampling; that happens to any station that has a format change and markets heavily, which Infinity has done. I'm glad to be proven right on that.

However, if Infinity thinks this is a format that will maintain these numbers without tweaking, they better rethink. The Jack format will maintain numbers only as long as the freshness of the "oh wow" songs in maintained by cycling titles in and out of rotation.

And yes, I am a consultant. But I don't play one on TV.

More so than Indie ever did, or will. But don't expect Infinity to allow Jack to cannibalize too much audience from a sister station.

R U having reading problems?

Read what I wrote- a nice start but it'll take at least a year to know if these stations are for real or not. Totally consistent with my view of JACK all along.

In the past, I have definitely challenged those who out-of-the-box call JACK a failure and at the same time caution those who belive it's an overnight success and the cure for what ails radio.

Do your homework!

Reminds me of the Jokes that the late great Robert W. Morgan used to tell.... He didn't want to offend Lawyers, so he would replace the word "LAWYERS" with "RADIO CONSULTANT".......

Q: What do you call 100 "RADIO CONSULTANTS" at the bottom of the ocean?

A: A good start!

It's humor...laugh a little!

Don't know about Los Angeles, but in Dallas, the swarmy voiceovers and lack of jocks is getting old fast.

People are sampling it for sure -- even heard in a doctor's office.

Staying power? Who really knows?

Well, if you immediately put it on, I guess you actually did it :).

I guess you weren't at the party at Jack today. Well, neither was I but this didn't make some folks in Burbank too happy.

They want instant success. They don't care about anything else anymore.

Since they're going to add jocks, it won't be just about the music later this summer.

K-Earth isn't looking good. The only question is who is helping it sink faster, Hollywood Hamilton, poor selection of music or Jack. I vote for all 3.

Oh, I would retract that statement.
Blatant hint ----> K-Earth

Let's get a little more bold here. Anyone can say "Jack might be a success, or it might not. Only time will tell." It's more fun to predict beforehand. Yes, nobody knows for sure - that is the whole point. So what does everyone think? I say Jack is a success for a good long time.

But it does nothing for Infinity's bottom line

Jack's initial success if offset by the flagship KROQ taking it on the kisser. So are they really celebrating at Infinity or scratching collective heads wondering how they ended up screwing themselves.

On a side note. Did Indie have another fluke month?

KROQ did not take it on the kisser. The discreet month of May was about the same level as at least three different months in 2004; KROQ wobbles between the 3's and the 4's. Wobble ina 1.2 to 1.5 point range is not abnormal in individual months.

> On a side note. Did Indie have another fluke month?

It was off from April in the month of May, althogh May was better than February and March. This is a stations that will wander form a 0.6 to a 1.1 or 1.2 in individual months, and will be a 0.7 to 1.2 station as a result.
