IT on XM

XM satellite radio started its "IT" programming this week. "IT" is a decade by decade format which programs the top chart hits, year by year. The '50s finish up on Thursday followed by the '60s. For younger listeners, it's a chance to hear a lot of music that commercial radio "consultants" and "testers" determined that you didn't want to hear on your "oldies" station for the last 35 or so years. And for those who don't have a good Oldies station in their market ( which would be a whole lot of us), it's a chance to hear what Oldies radio should really sound like. Check out www.xmradio for more info.

I've heard about that on the XM board.

Do they play EVERY charting Top 100 song? Or just selections.

Is there a lot of DJ talk?

Would be great to be able to record it all, especially the 50s and 60s.

No, they didn't play every charted song. But it took them over 3 days to get through the '50s, so they did play a LOT of songs. There is some DJ chatter, but not a lot. Recording IT might be tough but I suppose it could be done. Using 8 hour VHS tapes might be the way to go. It could always be transferred to CD or cassette later on.

Are you recording it? It would be great to hear gems such as A LETTER TO SHERRY, KOOKIE KOOKIE LEND ME YOUR COMB, THIS I SWEAR, etc.

Give me NORM N. NITE and I'm in heaven.
