Is Sunny in Ft. Collins flipping to My97.9?

I found this website:

http://www.my979.com/main.html

Domain looks registered to Clear Channel and the weather forecast on there is for Ft. Collins, so, is this going to be the new KQLF? Are they re-tooling the station?

Are they gonna blow out any jocks?

I am wondering that myself and it seems like the person on DenverRadio.net by the handle of ARMForcePd knows more about this topic then anyone else does.
Blow out any Jocks?
Let me tell ya Sunny right now has 1 jock, and the rest is voice tracked..
So the only Jock they would loose is Scott James..
But this really doesn't come to any surprise, how can a station do well when all the air staff is voice tracked and not local and live?

With a moniker like my 97.9 it sounds like another Jack ripoff. Looking at the website that suspicion is confirmed. Looks like they'll be going from one jock to no jocks. Lemmings. If Scott gets canned I'm not too sure he can keep going back to Regent/Brill. He's only bolted from them for Clear Channel twice now.

If scott gets canned that is it for his Radio Career.. As I find out from a friend that use to work for CC up here, once she got fired from CC NO ONE would hire her. So if scott gets fired, no radio station in the state would Touch him! It looks like if you worked for CC and get fired from CC well that's it for your radio career.

You know I find it also surprising that CC didn't waste any time on making the web page before the flip! I never seen anyone do that before, so it has to be true then..
but I am still puzzled on the whole thing though??
Doesn't a station normally or usally make some kind of anouncement before they flip format and names?

A CC Smokescreen?

I smell a CC smokescreen....I can't imagine them making the domain active
and showing their hand unless they intended to...

I foresee a format change - but one that might involve record
reps in Nashville....

But I've been wrong before.....oh wait...I did get it right on
102.9 also.....

you know you might be right about that..
I mean think about it..

Why would CC make a web page prior to the flip of SUnny?
Also no one down at CC here in Fort COllins even knows about it.. Not even Scott James.
All of this makes no sense at all, none..
For another they would make some kind of announcement prior to the flip.. Which they never did at all!

So I am wondering? Is this a smoke screen or what? None of this makes a lack of sense at all!

When CC flipped The Eagle down here to a Sunny format (which ironically they just flipped to La Preciosa after 14 failed months as Sunny) they had the Sunny website setup and viewable online at least a week in advance so when the station flipped insiders weren't surprised.

CC also announced 3 days in advance that Sunny was flipping to La Preciosa. No stunting, nothing. As for country, they'd be unwise to try to take down K99. The last attempt to do so ended up a miserable failure. Ironically Scott James was the last PD of Eagle 96 before they flushed it down the toilet and made it a Kiss clone.

Unless they follow the model they set up in San Diego. If you
followed the DS board on this site, CC went after heritage KSON
by stealing key on-air talent backed by mega-bucks spent on
off-air promotion. And it seems to be working.

If not to go after K99, there's no much else to go after in the
money demos....

I am confused on the Eagle part? What state are you talking about on this?
I am thinking of when 96.1 was Eagle and was country.. They flipped to KISS and I don't recall Scott James being the PD for 96.1 the Eagle?

WOW!

Sorry for the confusion. Down here in Big D The Eagle was KEGL - 97.1 - a heritage active rock station. Clear Channel dumped active rock for their Sunny cookie cutter in May of last year. The website was leaked to radio-info at least a week in advance so nobody was surprised when Sunny came online.

The Eagle up there was Eagle 96 (or The Eagle, Country 96.1 FM depending on your preference). Scott James left K99 abruptly in the spring of 1997 to take over KGLL. Long story short, the station sucked and Clear Channel pulled the plug.

My point was I seriously doubt the my979.com website is a ruse.

If your "friend" is Sheryl Schaffer, no one will hire her because she is a poor air talent and generally a miserable person who wouldn't know how to close her mouth even if assisted with duct tape.

And I keep trying to hire Scott to come to Denver to do PM Drive/APD, but he keeps saying "no" because he loves Northern Colorado and has this almost ignorant affection for Stu Haskell (who, by the way, sees Scott as a major expense).

Scott could walk in to any station in Denver and have a job within 10 minutes, fired from that jack-squat market in Fort Fun or otherwise. He just chooses to stay nort of 120th.

Sooner or later, the invites for him will grow cold.
