In Memoriam: Nellie Knorr 1916-2006

Nellie is the woman who put Dearborn's WKNR "Keener 13" on the air and made it a Top 40 legend in the 1960s long before that 50kw Bill Drake job over in Windsor blew it away.

Actually, her husband Fred put the station on the air.
After his death, she took over. She had the good sense to keep some good people, hire some good people and let them do their jobs.
She hired a good consultant and let her programmers use him intelligently: They listened to his advice but didn't necessarily take it.
