Gray TV trades EW Scripps operated Fox affiliate KNIN in Boise, ID for a Marquee Broadcasting METV station WPGA in Macon, GA

Opinion: in Gray's home state of Georgia, how long can it go to operate a station without a newsroom since Tegna has the long dominant CBS/CW station WMAZ13 while Morris Multimedia has a NBC station WMGT41 and Sinclair which has the Fox/ABC station WGXA24. But in case of EW Scripps which operates WFLX in West Palm Beach using the resources of the latter's NBC affiliate which done similarly also in Boise probably as a condition to provide news casts for WFLX since Scripps is not allowed (under FCC duopoly rules on the basis of the ratings of the 4 major networks by media market) to own both ABC affiliate KIVI and KNIN both once under Journal Media Group until Scripps bought them in 2015. The other twist in this swap is it will separate from CBS/CW station KMVT and it's low powered Fox station KSVT-LD both in the Twin Falls/Sun Valley market which Gray bought in March 2015 not long before the Scripps-Journal deal is completed. In the end, while Gray has a strong presence in most of the south (including it's predecessor Raycom) but Gray would've invest better in a pro-red state like Florida especially if they want to end their SSA deal with Scripps for WFLX since they have CBS Affiliate WCTV in the state capital of Tallahassee, ABC affiliate WWSB in Sarasota, NBC/CBS affiliates WJHG/WECT in Panama City Beach and the neighboring Fox affiliate WALA in Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL. l Same as in Boise, but the other question is can a very small market like Boise or Macon or even West Palm Beach sustain a Fox affiliate with it's own local news room.
