Considering how well WLEV's signal travels, this was always a waste. This is a much better use of the frequency.

Interesting. We run 2 translators and I was always told that translators have to simulcast an AM, which is what we do. Is WLEV programming also on an AM?

Actually the FCC amended the rule in 2009 to allow relay of an AM, prior to that, cross-service translators were not permitted - only FM to FM.

WLEV comes in strong in southern chester and Delaware county, it's HD even comes in in Frazer, PA. It's got an amazing signal.

FM translators are also allowed to rebroadcast the HD signals of their parent FM as well; if WIOV-AM on 98.5 fails to catch on then 98.5 could be used to translate any HD signal that WLEV broadcasts allowing a whole new format to appear on 98.5.

I think that started out to transmit easy listening 100.7 WFMZ into Reading & just continued when WLEV moved from 96.1 to 100.7.
