Effect of Consolidation on AM Radio

There are some states who still adhere pretty strongly to that view, and they express that view pretty much every day in Congress. So no, it wasn't different, and in many ways, the war we fought then is still going on today.

Mr. Tuna and I live in one of those states. Arizona barely acknowledges the authority of the US government, outside of the military. The State Legislature has already passed a resolution declaring all executive orders that they don't agree with. That, of course, will change once Obama leaves office, especially if a Republican is elected President next November.

Admittedly, there are certain issues that are treated very differently by the states but I think the main problem today is the State v Federal when it comes to lack of attention given to specific issues. For Arizona it is the lack of enforcement of border security - something several of our sheriffs have tried dealing with without much success. Some other states consider issues like abortion or legalization of marijuana primary issues. As much emotion as these various issues surface I don't think it is anywhere to the level of succeeding from the Union as was the case in the mid-1800's. The run-up to the outbreak of hostilities was a very bloody affair in its own right.

I have often wondered what difference might have been made in the South's repatriation had Lincoln not been assassinated as he would have been the primary driver for reconciliation instead of revenge. There is little question that the way the Civil War turned out the nation as a whole lost a great deal.

I just thought I'd point out that this has never been answered.

Don't expect me to jump through hoops for you. That bloated drug addict Limbaugh was accusing the Clinton's of "murder" and casting aspersions on Obama's nationality and religious affiliation as recently as three years ago (when i last heard him).

Again, a lousy way for a dying media to make a buck.

Actually, it is pretty tame compared to some of the stuff the Pacifica stations run.

Excess comes from both sides of the spectrum.

@L Chanon Gade: You made the assertion. If you're unwilling to support it, and your worthless links aside, you have not, I think the point has been well made.

David is correct, there is excess on both sides, but I suspect you could find support for those made on the stations derided by L Chanon Gade and less so on those from Pacifica. Further, so called 'public' radio receives a taxpayer subsidy. As they provide no necessary public service, this should stop.
