A pretty powerful E-skip opening around noon today between Atlanta and south Texas (Brownsville)/Reynosa MX. XHRYS from Reynosa at 90.1 MHz was completely over riding the 100kW Atlanta local WABE! KTEX from Brownsville, TX was easily heard at 100.3 MHz adjacent to Atlanta local WNNX at 100.5 MHz. Many other Spanish language Texas/Mexican signals scattered throughout the FM dial.

Great catches!! Started about 5 minutes ago. No E-skip. Will update.

This was the craziest E-Skip I have heard, because of the wide area that I could get all at once, basically the entire state of Texas, instead of a small area that slowly moves over the duration.

Here in Panama City, FL we had a 4 hour opening to Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. I am chief engineer for 6 stations owned by Clear Channel here in Panama City and our 100kw 94.5 station was completely taken out for about an hour by a station in Missouri.

cceng, I'm sure your 94.5 station was pissing off the Missouri station's engineer too, e-skip goes both ways

In NJ tonight, I got stations from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas. And a Mexican channel 6 audio.
Only bad thing about having 87.7 FM as my favorite station is that it's hard to find out if there's e-skip because there are no more full power analog channel 6's.

Got just a smidge of that outside of Memphis today. The Spanish audio on 87.7 came through. I see the FCC shows entries with no data for analog TV stations in Mexico at several points along the Texas border so I guess it was one of those. Or maybe XET-TV Monterrey?

Also got Spanish briefly on 97.3 but couldn't ID it. XHSR in Monterrey seems a good candidate. Strangely, those were the only two DX signals I got during an afternoon bandscan. Everything else was more or less as expected.

Later in the day WRR 101.1 MHz (Classical) from Dallas, TX (yes, a "W" station in Texas) was coming in at my QTH in Atlanta, GA.

Nashville was much like Memphis...just a glimpse:
however a STRONG spanish language station on 107.1 covering WUHU Bowling Green
(and bleeding into my XM transmitter...which is how I noticed it).
Also oldies on 92.5 fighting with country WBKR Owensboro.
Unable to ID either of them...
weirdest part was how the rest of the normal "fringe" stations were gone...just what
sounded like IBOC hiss where they should hav been...i.e. WGGC usually blasts in on 95.1...nothing!

this was all on my so-so Honda Civic stock radio driving from Music Row to the airport area
on surface streets Tuesday afternoon

Wrapping up my 7/26 logs:

87.7 UNID Mexican ch A6 audio
88.5 Religious AFR affiliate (KAYK Victoria I presume), over semi local WMUB
92.1 UNID interfering with local WROU
93.5 Spanish
96.1 Spanish talk
96.9 Spanish
97.1 country probably KTHT
100.3 KTEX, Country
103.7 KOUL Sinton TX, Koul Country
103.3 KJOJ Freeport TX "La Raza" very loud Spanish
107.1 Spanish, thought I heard "La Raza" once again.

Today was about an hour of Orlando, I was alerted while listening to WHIO-FM and getting interference.
89.5 someone interfering with local WQRP/WDPS only about 10 miles from the transmitter
95.9 morning show even though it was past 11am sounded like Bubba the Love Sponge
106.7 WXXL XL106
97.5 WPCV Winter Haven (fairly frequent northern visitor)

New member here from Austin, Texas. I logged these stations: Radio Shine 90.9 from Prescott, Arizona(1100 miles away); WDBS 97.1 from Sutton, West Virginia(1295 miles) plus several stations from Charlotte and Raleigh, NC. Then today(7/29/09) logged WWWW 102.9 from Ann Arbor, Michigan(1400 miles) plus WTSG 90.1 from Carlinville, Illinois. Skip lasted about 60 minutes then faded out for good:)

If there is anybody out there who lives in Texas drop me an email and we can alert each other when the skip is in... [email protected]

Steve

Try http://dxworld.com/tvfmlog.html for e-skip alerts. E-skip affects most of the country at the same time, so if you see any e-skip report there, scan your dial. Or just find a frequency with static normally at the low side of the FM band and if there isn't static, there's DX.
