Charlotte Ratings March 2024 - 2 CHR's: Still Terrible

When you're still looking up at WLNK, that's gotta be bad.

Even though they’re tied, WNKS is the stronger of the two although that isn’t saying much. Either WHQC is billing well, or iHeart doesn’t have a better option for it. They recently went urban on 96.1 in Atlanta (ironically, now 96.1 The Beat), but with ‘PEG’s performance as of late, I don’t think that would go over well.

92.7 has to be getting some of the best ratings that frequency has gotten. Radio One made a very wise decision to move ‘FNZ to FM.

Just ouch @ KQC.

25-54: 1. WFNZ 2T. WOSF 2T. WPEG 4. WSOC 5. WEND 6. WKKT 7. WLKO

18-34: 1. WFNZ 2. WKKT 3. WPEG 4. WEND 5. WBAV 6T. WSOC 6T. WLKO 12T. WKQC 12T. WFAE 12T. WHQC

18-49: 1. WKKT 2. WEND 3T. WOSF 3T. WSOC 3T. WFNZ 6. WLKO

WFNZ benefited from March Madness and the legalization of sports betting in NC. Normally, they're not going to rank as high. Agree 92.7 is doing better than when it was urban.

The tweaking or adjustment at 96.1 to party hits does not seem to be helping in the ratings. Perhaps time to consider a full flip. Just let 95.1 fight the hit music battle. Meanwhile 107.9 and 102.9 may fill the AC/adult hits void in Spartanburg County since changes here in the market, although not a concern for Charlotte ratings.

WHQC just let the PD go at the end of last month. I’m sure they want to see if there’s an improvement under a new programmer before they would switch formats.

They do need to go ahead and drop that horrible morning show. It hasn’t worked. They haven’t been competitive since Ace and TJ left, but even the interim voicetracker before Miguel and Holly got better numbers than what they’ve been putting out.

They have Otis who was on WNKS for 10 years on their sister station in Atlanta. They have Brotha Fred who was mornings when it was 96.1 The Beat in Chicago. They need to put somebody on with a local connection to Charlotte. These national voicetrackers haven’t worked, and there is no real
local connection.

The current morning show on WHQC, Miquel and Holly is based in Charlotte.
That's correct, they are based in Charlotte, but they were brought in from Tampa 2 years ago without any prior local connection. They've also consistently been the lowest ranked daypart on the station. Record lows. It's time to pull the plug.
