AP vs. FOX

Looking for info on how stations using AP wire service and
FOX hourly news are managing things technically. Separate
satellites? Same? If same bird, multiple LNB's? Any
shred will be helpful in light of AP's decision to
minimize audio news and Fox's decision to move aggressively
into the radio news side.

Not sure I get what you mean? Are you talking about AP's actual newscast audio or just their wire service? We have their wire service and we've been taking Fox New's hourly one minute newscast for the last year and a half. But they're on two different birds, if I remember right - Fox is on the AMC satellite that ABC uses for SGIII receivers and AP uses a cheap digiceiver...so as far as how we're managing them, they're both on separate dishes...

Presently we're using AP's wire service AND AP's audio
news service. Both off the same dish/LNB into a cheap
receiver that breaks out the audio stream(s) and the
computer feed for traditional wire service.

That's as I feared it might be. We are in a situation where
putting up a dish is a major issue and it's necessary to
realign a couple of times a year due to the ground heaving.
I had a faint hope they might be using different transponders
on the same bird and I could stay with one dish. From your
reply, it seems unlikely.

I tried contacting Fox News via their e-mail address for
stations but the entire message bounced back as though the
address on their website is somehow defective. I'll try
calling them on the phone at some point.

Thanks...
______________

One of the last stations I was doing an install for figured out that AP looks at the same bird as Open House Party, so they split the feed between AP and the OHP Comstream and all was well. So if you take anything from SuperRadio, you might be in luck.
______________

So far have learned that FOX is C-band, using same satellite
as ABC. Distribution via Premiere networks. Requires a
2-degree compliant C-band dish. Fortunately I have a 3.4
meter Prodelin (now Patriot) in place that was put up in
1994. Documentation suggests it IS 2-degree compliant.
Now gotta look into cost of receiver and be sure we can
aim this thing between buildings to hit that bird!
