Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall to Co-Host the 2022 Oscars

Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall are set to co-host the 2022 Academy Awards, reportedly after several others options, including Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, fell through. The Oscars have not had a host since Jimmy Kimmel headlined two consecutive shows in 2017 and 2018 and Kevin Hart infamously stepped down ahead of the 2019 broadcast following accusations of homophobia.

Two words - Billy Crystal.

They left Bob Saget and a few notable others out of the "In Memoriam" tributes during last night's ceremony, which didn't sit well with some.

Also, there was this incident below where Chris Rock insulted Will Smith's Wife, and Smith walked up on stage, smacked Rock, then went and sat back down and they exchanged words, including profanities, while Rock was still on stage to present. A few minutes later Smith was presented with the Best Lead Actor award. Many are saying that anyone but Will Smith would not have been permitted to walk up on stage, physically assault a presenter, and then casually walk back to their seat and sit down as if that was OK. At minimum they'd have been escorted out immediately and reprimanded. Since Will Smith was set to be awarded the Best Lead Actor award just minutes after this incident, it put the producers in an awkward situation. If they'd have Smith removed, someone would need to receive his award in his place, and the Lead Actor award is usually one of the highlights of the evening. Much of the verbal exchange was muted and edited for US audiences, but in places like Asia and Australia they saw and heard the entire exchange, and some of those videos are going viral.

Will Smith Smacks Chris Rock on Oscar Stage After Jada Joke: ‘Keep My Wife’s Name Out Your F–ing Mouth’

You can dress them up...
It was on in the background and I completely missed C.Rock. As well as 90% of the "show." They should go back to the old "formal" evening and if they take a ratings hit so be it. Aspiring to be MTV doesn't make it but perhaps the Academy doesn't care anymore.

The list is usually drawn from either former or current Academy members or previous winners. That's why you see so many behind the scenes people. They may not be famous, but if they were members at one time, they get included. Same with the Grammy Awards. These awards are given by membership organizations.

I didn't care for how that was handled. Maybe half the people got a proper full screen while the rest were in the background with all that singing and dancing going on. Fortunately, I recorded it so I was able to go back and see every name and whatever footage represented the work they did. That should have been all. No dancing. No distracting singing.

I was busy watching paint dry.

Ya it s*cks her hair is falling out due to a disease of some sort, or ailment, or something like that

Let me know when it is because she has been thru 20 rounds of Chemo while battling cancer.

And I dated a woman who had no hair once, bald as a new born baby's backside.

She had different wigs for every occasion, good times.

Remember when these were elegant formal occasions?

Now it is just a Sunday night version of WWE

How come Will gave Regina Hall a pass to joke about his wife then slaps Chris Rock for something similar? (Rock appeared to be quite smaller than Smith). I only saw the video. I quit watching the Oscars many years ago. It has lost its golden luster for me and apparently for a lot of America.

Viewership for this years' Oscars was up a whopping 58% over last year. However, they were still the 2nd lowest rated in history.

Oscars Draw 16.6 Million Viewers, Soaring 58% From Last Year's Historic Low

The 2022 Oscars drew 16.6 million viewers on Sunday, up 58% from last year’s record-low audience of 10.5 million
While the year-over-year growth is impressive, it’s still the second-worst viewership and ratings performance in the history of the Oscars.

If not for the fact that I live near where Jim and Tammy's show originated, I wouldn't have known, but the clip they showed of Jessica Chastain made her look like a cartoon. And for that the Makeup Oscar was awarded?

Will smith resigns from the Academy, says he will accept the consequences of his actions:
Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, five days after his first Oscar win. The King Richard star, 53, faced suspension or expulsion for smacking Chris Rock, a stunning incident that overshadowed his big moment.
In a new statement on Friday, Smith apologized once again to Rock and called his actions "painful and inexcusable." He said he will accept any other consequences that the Academy's Board of Governors deems fit, which could include stripping his Oscar.
