AM radio news migrating to FM

Another factor in all this is that it is apparent that what constitutes "news" to younger people isn't apparently what it is to older demos.

According to a recent newspaper article, 30% of Americans get their "news" from Facebook. I.e., all the stupid 'memes' and quoted (and usually extremely politically partisan) articles that people post on their news feeds.

Then you have the hashtag thing on Twitter. Probably to many millenials, that would count as a form of "news".

It's information about people or things they're interested in. That's what makes news and talk programming to younger audiences so difficult. It needs to be very specific, and very personal. You can't just rail about the government and expect a millennial to care. It's possible to do it if you're part of their life group, among their friends, or chosen as one of their favorites. That's what it takes, and why no one seems to be able to succeed with young talk.

In other words, it takes the 'mass' out of mass media.
