A few changes coming to the Ottawa FM dial.

CILV 88.5 received approval today to increase their power and move the transmission site, changing the channel class from B to C1, increasing the maximum effective radiated power (ERP) from 12,000 to 90,000 watts (average ERP from 2,300 to 37,000 watts) and decreasing the antenna’s effective height above average terrain from 254.6 to 130.7 metres.
They'll share a tower with CHRI and CJOT.

CIDG 101.9 will soon be at 101.7 and will also receive an increase in power increase from from 5,500 to 19,500 watts (maximum ERP). They'll be swapping frequencies with CHIP. CHIP will keep it's current power level.

CJVN 92.7 has begun on again and off again testing. Testing has been sporadic. The station will offer a French language CCM format and will only have 50 watts of power from a tower in the French speaking Vanier neighbourhood.

CILV was already doing well enough to help scare away the Bear. Why do they need a signal boost?

They're limited in terms of coverage. They can't send too much to the east to protect CBC Radio one in Montreal. People in the south and west side of the city are reporting difficulty hearing them, and that's been a common complaint since day 1. In truth they're good only in the central part of the city. In their first summer, people would flood the station with questions when E skp would arrive as they would be wiped off the dial right in the city in most of the residential areas. People thought the station suddenly changed formats.

Dawg moves to 101.7 this Friday, (August 19, 2016) @ 7PM...rumour is, format change will happen then.

That's been pushed back to next Friday, the 26th at 7 pm. Rumour is the format will be rock, a cross between Octane and Alt Nation (The Serius XM Channels).
Former Live 88.5, Bear and Bob personality Darryl Kornicky is rumoured to have been hired.

The format change went ahead at 7, but not the frequency swap. There are some issues CIDG is trying to work out. The reviews are very positive, and this is one of the best rock stations I've heard in a long time.
