96.5 KOIT Trasition

Maybe in the early 2000's.

Would anybody know when 96.5 KOIT went from SOFT AC to Mainstream AC?
Keep in mind that stations like that did constant research, and it's likely the station did not "go from soft AC to mainstream AC" but simply followed the playlist that music tests showed to be what their target listeners wanted to hear.

In other words, as the older listeners aged out of the target, the consensus preferences of the 25-54 group became more uptempo and contemporary.

Same thing as "oldies". Transitioned to "Classic Hits" because [the way I was told] is that "Oldies" was considered a derogatory term and 50+ in age didn't like being equated with "old".
