American Media Investments kicked off the Labor Day holiday weekend by flipping Classic Hits “Kool 95.1” KEWL New Boston TX/Texarkana AR.

Now branded as “The River 95.1“, KEWL-FM has flipped to a 1990s/early 2000s based Alternative playlist. The music as sampled this morning featured Gin Blossoms, Foo Fighters, Smash Mouth, Cranberries, Linkin Park, Semisonic, Marcy Playground and Snow Patrol.

That's an oldies station at this point. Every one of those artists aside from Linkin Park are pre-millennium and Linkin Park isn't exactly short in the tooth.

This playlist killed The Edge deader than dead, and the new Alt dog is lapping the Possum Kingdom antifreeze off the Edge's driveway and is ready to keel over.
