Storm coverage - Harvey

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/106782/bfa-can-help-broadcasters-hit-by-harvey

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/marketshare/2017/08/28/texas-tv-stations-use-facebook-to-cover-flood/

Update TV Newscheck has mentioned that local TV stations in Texas also used facebook live to continue coverage of Harvey just in case their local TV transmitters go off the air just like what happened to KHOU-TV. Also CNN was mentioned to be another outlet that covered the Hurricane Harvey for out of state audiences besides CBSN.

Here is an update. Now Louisiana is hit by Harvey.

Update KPLC-TV in Lake Charles will go wall to wall with Harvey Coverage in Louisiana now that state is hit. At this time no National crews are covering Louisiana due to the rescues in Houston area.

It will be interesting to see how well the diminished radio news staffs cover the upcoming probable mutliday event with Harvey. My prediction is that we'll hear mostly syndicated programs interrupted by NWS flood warnings and occasional news at the top of the hour. Now that's serving your community!

I am in AZ, so all I see is what is on TV.
I have a hotel booked for a stay in Galveston on the beach in a couple weeks, I called the hotel to get an update/possibly cancel the trip.
The manager at the hotel said Galveston is fine, the flooding problems are up in Houston.

Is this true?

Well technically true, but you won't be able to drive to Galveston. Not to mention that you might not even make it to Houston. I had my flight cancelled twice already. I was supposed to be back from Guatemala Saturday and I'm still here. No telling when I will be back. I had my second flight for Wednesday cancelled too. From what I heard both Hobby and Bush are closed. The planes looked like sharks in Hobby and Bush was 90% closed.

KFDM, KBTV and KBMT all having continuous coverage in the triangle. Many evacuations and rescues happening today.

KHOU was off for much of the day. From as best I can tell (by watching), KHOU returned early this evening controlled by WFAA, first simulcasting the WFAA-anchored web/Facebook Live/YouTube broadcast for KHOU viewers, and then switching to a KHOU-anchored broadcast, using the KUHT studios at UofH, but using WFAA as the main control room (as evidenced by the News8 radar and screen bug which remains now). It's very much a team effort, with remotes from both WFAA and KHOU reporters throughout the day.

KHOU was an easy flooding target, they sit right on Buffalo Bayou and they've been flooded before (in 2001). KPRC isn't on Brays Bayou, but it's not too far away. Fingers crossed for everyone.

KHOU returned Sunday evening OTA as indicated being fed by WFAA overnight early Monday they switched to having MC/Ops run out of their other sister station KUSA Denver - Denver is receiving the "local studio" anchors currently at KUHT via satellite and ingesting content fed by remote reporters, graphics / crawl / etc.. and sending it to the KHOU transmitter via satellite. The on the ground reporters in Houston are using a mix of IP based (cell) technology and satellite live trucks to get their live reports back to KUSA.

Iheart KTRH 750am has been rebroadcasting out of the following translators 24/7 K287BQ 105.3fm, K223CL 92.5fm, K231CN 94.1fm and K283CH. This are all the station that belongs to
Centro in Houston.
