Tyler, Texas is also on Flood watch too.
Tyler, Texas is also on Flood watch too.
It will be interesting to see how well the diminished radio news staffs cover the upcoming probable mutliday event with Harvey. My prediction is that we'll hear mostly syndicated programs interrupted by NWS flood warnings and occasional news at the top of the hour. Now that's serving your community!
Well technically true, but you won't be able to drive to Galveston. Not to mention that you might not even make it to Houston. I had my flight cancelled twice already. I was supposed to be back from Guatemala Saturday and I'm still here. No telling when I will be back. I had my second flight for Wednesday cancelled too. From what I heard both Hobby and Bush are closed. The planes looked like sharks in Hobby and Bush was 90% closed.I am in AZ, so all I see is what is on TV.
I have a hotel booked for a stay in Galveston on the beach in a couple weeks, I called the hotel to get an update/possibly cancel the trip.
The manager at the hotel said Galveston is fine, the flooding problems are up in Houston.
Is this true?
For whatever reason, the CBS radio stations are simlucasting KPRC (NBC Station) instead of CBS station, KHOU.
KHOU was off for much of the day. From as best I can tell (by watching), KHOU returned early this evening controlled by WFAA, first simulcasting the WFAA-anchored web/Facebook Live/YouTube broadcast for KHOU viewers, and then switching to a KHOU-anchored broadcast, using the KUHT studios at UofH, but using WFAA as the main control room (as evidenced by the News8 radar and screen bug which remains now). It's very much a team effort, with remotes from both WFAA and KHOU reporters throughout the day.
KHOU was an easy flooding target, they sit right on Buffalo Bayou and they've been flooded before (in 2001). KPRC isn't on Brays Bayou, but it's not too far away. Fingers crossed for everyone.
Iheart KTRH 750am has been rebroadcasting out of the following translators 24/7 K287BQ 105.3fm, K223CL 92.5fm, K231CN 94.1fm and K283CH. This are all the station that belongs to
Centro in Houston.
Tom Taylor reports that all CBS radio stations went wall-to-wall hurricane coverage over the weekend.
