99.1 HD3 is now “Magic”, which appears to be a syndicated version of the new WMIA-FM Miami. From the 15 minutes I heard, it’s a random mix of English-language soft AC with Spanish-language liners.
Oh wow. I had to sit on HD2 for a minute for HD3 to show up. In Dallas this got added to 102.1 HD2 according to @chriscervantez

HD3 has an Adult Hits PTY

Problem is in places like Porter and many parts of Houston drug use and other cartel activities are so prevalent it's safer to pretend you don't see the obvious.
Or, more than likely it's because i don't live in a seedy neighborhood. I know such seedy neighborhoods exist, but can't relate to turning a blind eye if a neighbor was doing illegal activity on my block.
All a landlord cares about is the rent and not getting shot in the process of collecting it.
They used to call that sort of landlord 'Slumlord'. Again, I understand the term and the ramifications, but can't understand why someone law abiding would ignore obvious illegal activity.

Reminded me a little of Classic 106.9/Monterrey, but without the personality.

I don't have a Listen Live link for KODA HD3 yet - will update if I come across it.
To hear + sample the format:

Have to wonder if something similar to the new WMIA format would be a possibility for KROI once the SBS sale closes, though as Miami and Houston are greatly different Hispanic markets, perhaps not.

Well 92.1 is definitely better than a weak 99.1 HD3.

What if, and I’m just saying what if.

What if IHeart is just stunting with this Magic 99.1 HD3 format to see if that’s something that would work here?
What if they like the idea and flip one of their other FMs? Which one would they flip?
What if they decided to start a morning show with Raul Brindis?

You might say, Raul wouldn’t fit that format.

We have had Piolin on Recuerdo 106.5, we now have Piolin on Power FM. None of those 2 had anything similar to what Piolin plays.

How does URBAN ONE feel about having another MAGIC here in Houston?

It's called "warehousing". Remember a few years ago when iHeart put their Soft AC "Breeze" on HD subchannels across the country to prevent competitors from using the brand name? Same thing here. They're not going to flip one of their stations in Houston as it would hurt 99.1 the most. Now a Spanish prevalent market where iHeart DOES NOT own the powerhouse AC? Like say San Diego or Albuquerque? That could happen. But iHeart is not going to hurt their cash cows.

That’s actually a good observation. Were I Urban One I would consider a C&D order, though that might have the “Streisand Effect” of drawing attention to the new HD signal. OTOH Houston already has both a Mix and Latino Mix.

Country Legends sounds OK now for a change.
