Weigel buys KNLC; could it get ABC or FOX?

Weigel Broadcasting is buying St Louis religious station KNLC from New Life Evangelistic Center for $3.75 million.

On another forum, they're saying Weigel might make a play for the ABC or FOX affiliation. Granted, their signal may need some work, as their tower is farther south than the other stations.

Surprised to hear this happened, especially for so little money. It doesn't seem that long ago that ABC was willing to spend a lot more than that to pry the station away from Rice.

ABC has never been all that happy with KDNL, but who knows what will happen next. With Sinclair in the process of acquiring Tribune, everyone may be in more of a wait-and-see mode.

If an affiliation play happens, Weigel should go for ABC. Imagine it now... ABC 24 KNLC.
