TV Azteca and Televisa in Mexico

Does TV Azteca in Mexico (Canal 7 y Canal 13) have local/regional news and local regional program opt-outs like ITV in the UK or just only the national feed. Also, same for televisa canal de las estellas, canal 5, y galavision mexico.

Channel 2 (Canal de las Estrellas) is rebroadcast by repeaters in most parts of Mexico. In a few markets, they have local newscasts and additional local features. For example, the Guadalajara station has local news at 6 AM, 3 PM and 9 PM, M-F. They also have a couple of local sports shows. But outside a few large markets (Guadalajara is the size of Philadelphia), there is either no local or very limited local programming. This is, by the way, the model in most of Latin America where government is highly centralized and there is little other than auto accidents to report on a daily basis.

Channels 4 and 5 from Mexico City have historically not been news focused leaving that function to Channel 2.

Keep in mind, too, that these stations are not affiliates, they are owned by the central company, and most ad sales in Mexico come from large national agencies making local non-agency business a very limited proposition.

What about TV Azteca, do they have an opt-out for local news and local programs?

I doubt it, except for maybe GDL, Monterrey. Fred Cantú, who appears here frequently, knows more about this than I do (and probably more than anyone in the US) and perhaps he can add something. I don't follow Azteca, so really am not qualified to comment.

The two Azteca stations in Queretaro have local news, and actually a hell of a lot better signal than the piece of trash put into the transmitter by Azcarraga's TeleRisa that can hardly be seen at all.
