Think I know why The Edge's signal sounds like crap.

As I am listening to The Edge over my headphones. What I hear is music in the background that sounds really faint but as I listened longer, a pattern develops where what you hear in the faint noise is repeated at full volume 8-10 seconds later.

Which is leading me to believe their "delay" is bleeding through on their board. This has been going on for a few months now from what I have noticed and it looks like the station doesn't know it's happening, or is aware of it but can't do anything about it at this time.

Listen to The Edge through headphones, wait for a song to finish and as it finishes, you will hear a distorted song very faintly start up and about 8-10 seconds later, it's the same song you heard played at full volume that was in the distortion.

But the distorted sounds more distinct at night.

8 secs is the delay in an IBOC installation......could be there is something being overdriven in the IBOC exciter/processor.....IIRC, all the CC FMs are running IBOC.

Your right The Edge does have a delay. but why would you want a delay anyway? I mean most CC stations have 360 system or cool edit to edit phone calls or interviews and stuff before they air. that is better then a delay I think.

CW is correct, it IS an 8 second IBOC delay. The Edge is the only station having this problem, and it's got the same exact setup as the rest of the CC stations. Nobody's figured out why it does that yet (no its nothing overdriven) or how to fix it.
______________

The reason The Edge sounds like crap is it's from CRAP Channel... ohh.. I'm sorry! You were referring to the audio, not the programming. LOL! (kidding)

Merry Christmas, etc.

Maybe its the ghost(s) of Joel Folger and George Gimarc coming back to rub CC's face in the whole pile of crapola they've created :D

KEGL

To all who said KEGL would be a 1 share unless the eagle was still on the air. I would like for you to take a look at it right now. Now you tell me who is better at Programing around here haha. With a nice 100k signal in the heart of the Metroplex pumping Spanish.
______________

Although not the Eagle, at least the spanish stuff gives some worth to the freqency again. Whoever in Cheap Channel Land decided to put that excuse for an AC 70s crap of a format called Sunny on 97.1 should be fired on the spot. What a joke. I'm glad to see at least something be successful again at 97.1. That frequency hasn't been that successful since the 80s before Folger screwed it all up for as the PD in 88. It's nice to see KEGL back up near the top. Possibly the Mexican programming guys don't program as poorly as their English counterparts do...

Actually, they did even better than that... they looked at a successful station in another market and copied it!
