Silence Sensors

Greetings!

We're gathering info to setup silence sensors at our properties. We've decided
on BTools Audio Sentinel, mainly because we can access via web and it will
alert via email. Will use remote control to call as well.

We originally thought about placing one unit at studio end and one unit at transmitter, then
thought about placing just one after STL, before processor. That would leave the processor
out of the loop, if it goes down. (not a deal breaker)

If we place between processor and transmitter, the we'll need something to boost the audio.

Would like thoughts on the above.
Also,

Backup Audio Source. Silence Sensor sees silence then switches to back up audio..
CDplayer is first thought, as it can be wired for relay remote start. Anyone wired a computer for
same? Another device

Thanks for your input on any or all of these issues!

We feed our silence sensor off-air from a tuner...it's an input to the remote control which calls me if there is silence (wall wart feeding through the relay on the Broadcast Tools unit).

I have a B/T VAD-2 Plus if you are interested. I couldn't get it to work.

on the cheap. An MP3 player going full time on repeat. Just make sure there is enough capacity for the drive to the studio :)

An off the air tuner is a very good idea, especially if it mutes when the carrier is absent. In that case you get silence alarms with bonus carrier failure notification. Of course, you won't know if silence or carrier triggered the event, but you can turn on a radio or log into your remote control to find out.

So are you connecting the mp3 player to the exciter? How are you boosting the audio?
