Excellent 90s at noon Playlist...... The only thing I see wrong with your sample hours is in the last part of the 4.00 o clock hour. I wouldnt play Sonique, and Vertical Horizon, back to back, and I wouldnt play 3 golds in a 30 minute set, Move Wiseguys-Start the comotion to a different hour. Then switch Rise Against, and put Kanye at the start of the music set.

This above list is CHR?!!?!! That last set alone will send your cume plummeting and your core heading to the urban station. What's with the alt-pop lean?

Blue Train?!!? You must love to program a very conservative, heavy-on-the-starch white bread "CHR."

Midday. Lots of stations do it that way during the midday.

Blue Train - All I Need Is You was popular on the local CHR back in 1991.

Lifehouse was a huge hit on CHR (Still is)
Vertical Horizon was the 3rd song WKSC Chicago played upon their flip to CHR almost 5 years ago.

But alot of stations throw a rhythmic tune in that mix during the last set. You have to remember what your core is -- and they are still listening during the day.

Cool...You might want to put that, then.

> Lifehouse was a huge hit on CHR (Still is)

You're missing the point. I am well aware how huge Lifehouse is. Vertical Horizon was a huge hit IN 1999. But that doesn't mean it belongs or fits on a CHR today. You'd be better off dumping Wiseguys and putting Vertical Horizon in that slot. Even with that, I'd put a better CHR gold in there. Let the Hot AC play Vertical Horizon. Give your core a gold they can't hear anywhere else. That's just my theory.

All the CHRs around here (both are rhythmic leaning) still play You & Me on a regular basis.

I rarely ever hear Everything You Want even on the Hot AC stations.

Wiseguys was put there simply to add a rhythmic gold and it was just off the top of my head.

I like the idea of throwing in an occational Hot AC/Rock gold (just before the TOH) just as a filler and to play a familiar gold. Also for past hits by an artist that is currenetly big (Green Day, Rob Thomas from when he was in Matchbox 20, etc) that fans may like or just simply remember. I hear stations do it all the time. I got an aircheck of a top rated CHR station (#1 in its market) playing Savage Garden - I Want You, Alanis Morrisette - Head Over Feet, Lit - My Own Worst Enemy, Staind - Its Been Awhile as golds from Summer 2004. All the chart hits (rhythmic & rock) were also played. So it can happen.

As for the golds that they can't hear anywhere else, thats where Sonique and The Wiseguys comes in. No other formats will touch them. Wiseguys gets an occational spin on Modern AC stations but I never heard Sonique anywhere else except for the very rare dance format.

It's very original, and personally I dig it. For the most part it's on point, except for the very odd personal retro choices. Also, be honest, do you think Bonnie Raitt still has a fanbase at CHR?

FYI: The days of Dayparting are OVER! Open your playlist and be who you are going to be, if that is a mainstream CHR, you need to be exposing the rhythm titles along side the rock titles, ALL DAY! ALSO, you should massage the texture and flow of your log a bit better, you batch your rhythm and rhythm/pop records at the end of the first quarter hour, and batch a bunch of rock product together. Keep in mind, you only have your listeners for an average of 5 minutes, in that 5 minutes they need to get a snapshot of the radio station's "variety." One half of an entire quarter hour doesn't have ONE rhythmic record or rhythm/pop record in it.

I totally dig ALOT of your titles, and the "local" hit is a good thing too. But be careful about the texture, see above for the explanation. My theory of the noon hour differs though, twelve noon is one of the highest cuming hours of the day, why play anything but the hits?? I agree with taking a different approach, i.e. mixshow, mid-day countdown, all "request" phone intensive, but bang the hits no matter what. Who knows what new cume you could have punching in.

> 4PM Hour:
> 04:01PM: Chris Brown - Run It 2005 C
> 04:05PM: Sean Paul - We Be Burnin 2005 C

> 04:18PM: Rihanna - If Its Lovin That You Want 2005 C
> 04:22PM: Maroon 5 - Harder To Breathe 2002 R

To expand on the texture and flow, here's a re-do of this AQH...
> 04:01PM: Chris Brown - Run It 2005 C
> 04:05PM: Nickelback - Photograph 2005 C
> 04:09PM: Sean Paul - We Be Burnin 2005 C
> 04:11PM: NEW MUSIC Fall Out Boy - Dance Dance 2005 C
> 04:14PM: Mariah Carey - Shake It Off 2005 C
> 04:18PM: Maroon 5 - Harder To Breathe 2002 R
> 04:22PM: Rihanna - If Its Lovin That You Want 2005 C
Watch playing unfamiliar records, next to semi-unfamiliar records. Use the power postitions as protectors around tertiary records, it will allow your cume to stay comfortable going into and out of unfamiliar records.

> STOPSET
> 04:27PM: Rise Against - Swing Life Away 2005 C
> 04:30PM: Shakira - Don't Bother 2005 C
> 04:33PM: Kanye West - Gold Digger 2005 C
> 04:36PM: Akon - Bonanza 2004 C
> 04:40PM: Sonique - It Feels So Good 1999 G
> 04:44PM: Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want 1999 G
> 04:47PM: Lifehouse - You & Me 2004 C
> 04:50PM: Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu 2005 C
> 04:54PM: Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten 2005 C
> 04:58PM: Wiseguys - Start The Commotion 2001 G
You are pretty gold heavy this AQH, try to spread out your golds throughout the hour. You don't want "OH (BLEEP)" records to become "AWW (BLEEP)..." And you don't want the burn fatigue to wear on the audience. Again, in 5-10 minutes the listeners should get an "average" snapshot of your station musically. Plaus, the fatigue and the "OLD" factor plays in when you have golds next to each other or even within one position.
