Question about how to do echo in Audition

I'm hoping that one of you pros can answer this question...when recording live in Audition from a mixer with music and a mic, is it possible to put echo ONLY on your voice if you're mixing live and in real time?

I know that if something is built in the multi-track mode, and your voice is on a seperate track it can be done, but real time is faster to produce for what I'm doing. Any suggestions? Thanks!<P ID="signature">______________

I just use the "Natural Reverb" preset in Adobe Audition. It gives me that "basic voice reverb" sound that I need.

If you don't have that preset in Cool Edit:

1. double click your track in the multitrack area

2. highlight the area you want the reverb on or if its the whole thing CTRL+A

3. In the top menu, go to Effects>Delay Effects>Reverb (The preset should be in the presets area under "Vocal-Natural Reverb" If not, run the rest of the steps)

Total Reverb Length=2500
Attack Time=180
High Frequency Absorbtion Time=1000
Smooth/Preception/Echoy=25
Original Signal (dry)=100
Reverb=15

This setting is not extreme reverb, just light but not too light. Just basic in my opinion and I've been using it regulary for a little over a year. The reverb is not very noticeable without a processer but if you're going to be putting this on the air over a processer you should get a pretty decent sound.

I don't think there's a way to add echo to your voice live in real time.
Computer sound card processing is affected by what is called "latency".
That is, the time it takes for the computer and the sound card to get the
audio, process it and then send it to the sound card output. Usually it's
measured in milliseconds, but on slower computers it won't work at all.
You'd have to have a very fast computer and pro level sound card, which
would cost a lot more than getting a cheap reverb box and using that right
off your mic. This would also free up your computer's resources. I've
been working exclusively with Cool Edit/Auditon for four years now and
the one thing I've learned is that the less you're making your computer
"multitask", the better. Just my 2 cents
