New haven ratings

Do the ratings for new haven get released in like a month.? How are WPLR ratings. It's like the people in new haven and hartford listen to different stations despite both cities being really close

New Haven and Hartford are less than 40 miles apart, but New Haven people prefer WPLR over Hartford's WDRC-FM by a wide margin. I would imagine that the Hartford market's WZMX and WWYZ do OK in New Haven, since New Haven doesn't have a hip-hop or country station of its own. However, those Hartford stations' ratings in New Haven are never made public by Nielsen, so we'll need to get a leak from an insider to find out just how well they're doing.

Does new haven perfer WEZN over WTIC-FM as well by a big margin

Again, the public is not allowed to know how WTIC-FM does in New Haven. WEZN, whose home market is Bridgeport, is a weak second choice behind WKCI for Hot AC in New Haven (2.4 in the Fall 2019 "meaningless" numbers), but since WTIC-FM's signal is inferior to WEZN's in much of the New Haven market, one can assume that the Hartford station isn't a factor in New Haven. WDRC-FM and WZMX transmit from Meriden, midway between Hartford and New Haven, while WTIC-FM's transmitter is in Avon, north and west of Hartford.

It has only showed a couple of times in the last several years. As has been stated, the signal is pretty inadequate by the time you get to the New Haven MSA.

In the last couple of years, WZMX has been between a 5.1 and a 7.3 in New Haven, with the numbers bouncing in every book. In the last two years, WWYZ had averaged about a 4.2 in New Haven. Both, as you suspect, do well.

The real question is whether stations like that are able to capitalize on listening in a much smaller market or, perhaps, they use it as a bonus to get a buy away from a station that does not have good New Haven coverage.

An example close to me is the group of LA FMs that do exceedingly well in the Riverside/San Bernardino market. But most of those LA stations don't even buy the Inland Empire book, as it produces no additional revenue.
