Morning Show jocks: are you an employee or independent contractor?

This is really an unusual question, I know. But I've often heard morning guys refer to their show as their own business and that they have people working for them. So, are local, non syndicated shows ever structured this way? And is it more common in some formats than others? Also, does market size matter?

It depends. Imus and Charles McCord (I believe) own Imus In the Morning. Stern's
company owns his show and satellite "network." They could either be independent contractors or "employees" of the company that they own or co-own. I suspect most hosts are employees of the station or the station owner.
